686 Snowboard Clothing and 686 Snowboard Accessories

Michael Akira West has been gathering up ideas ever since he first stepped onto a skateboard back in the early 80's. Mike was absorbed in the progressive street skateboarding scene in Hermosa and Venice Beach until 1985, when a friend introduced him to snowboarding. Mike worked and snowboarded at a local mountain in Big Bear, using punk, rap, jazz music and his collection of sneakers and vintage clothing as forms of inspiration. Once he left school he felt it was time to start up a project of his own and in 1992, the 686 technical apparel company was formed. Since the beginning, 686 have been on a mission to provide innovative, fashionable outerwear and technical apparel inspired from the same Los Angeles street culture and mountain lifestyle that inspired Mike West back in the beginning.
