The first major professional bodyboarding competition was held at the Banzai pipeline with a $5,000 dollar prize. That was a long time ago and John Patterson, now a top man with Manta Bodyboards in the USA, won the contest while bodyboarding in beautiful 6 to 8 foot waves.
