Oxbow, along with Laird Hamilton are leading the international resurgence of stand up paddeling, SUP, which first caught global attention when Duke Kahanamoku showed us how it was done. As the spiritual father of surfing, Kahanamoku took his long wooden paddles and his enormous wooden long board, and demonstrated the ancient sport of stand up paddling at Waikiki Beach, Hawaii. With new standup paddle legends being made, like Dave Kalama and Kai Lenny, standup paddle is now accessible to all with the emergence of light weight and more durable materials for more extreme wave riding.
