Quiksilver was founded in 1970 in Australia, when Torquay surfers Alan Green and John Law came up with the idea of selling wetsuits for a living. Beginning from first principles they redesigned the wetsuit, assuming nothing from before and creating a wetsuit that was specifically designed for surfing. Over time, thanks to their wetsuit’s success, they were able to introduce the extensive range of Quicksilver clothes and surfwear products that we know today, including their massively successful water durable surfshorts specifically designed for surfers.

Quiksilver clothing aims to produce genuine, original and functional gear for hard-core surfers and fans of other water and snow sports. By the mid-1970’s, Alan and John had partnered with Americans Jeff Hakman and Bob McKnight, with whom they produced their first boardshorts from Newport Beach, California. From here they continued to build the Quicksilver clothing brand based on word of mouth, clothing quality and unbelievable, personal customer service.

From their humble beginnings which saw them distributing their clothes and accessories directly to consumers, Quiksilver clothing are now a global company with a portfolio of lifestyle brands such as Roxy, Hawk Clothing, Gotcha and Radio Fiji under their control.
