Stand Up Paddle Boards

Using the stand up paddle boards (or SUPs) requires a whole different skill set to the one you use when surfing with a regular short or long-board, for one thing, these boards are about 11ft long on average. They're not made for manoeuvrability or speed in the water but you're not going to find anything else as stable as the stand up paddle boards. Rather than, as you would with a regular surfboard, lie flat on the board and paddle on to the wave then jump up into your surfing stance, with these boards you have to use your paddle to get into position and built the speed you need to get on to the wave to ride it in. The paddle comes in handy on your ride to as you can use it to direct yourself or adjust your speed. The greatest advantage of the stand up paddle boards is that they can be used when the water is nearly flat as you are not under any pressure to use the waves to propel yourself, as you have the paddle, and also because the board is so long and buoyant they will perform great on the smallest of waves.
