Larry Bertlemann, the Titan of Torque, the Sultan of Swivel, the Rubberman. Larry Bertlemann was the quintessential pioneer of New School surfing. Anything in Possible was the mantra he adopted into his mind bending, space aged approach to wave riding. Being an avid skateboarder, Bertlemann brought skateboarding to the water. Visualizing street based maneuvers and adapting them into wave riding was his forte. His skate influenced wave improvisation was a functional mix of low gravity high-g cutbacks, 360s and switch stance surfing. Larry Bertlemann changed the way we ride waves. His 60 Santa Cruz twin fin model is the epitome of blending the old with the new. A skate influenced contemporary version of the board he rode in the late 70s and early 80s.
