The Racer is practically a whole quiver in a single board. It goes well in more or less anything and will be enjoyed by more or less anyone, from the fledgling intermediate bidding their mini-mal goodbye to the battle-hardened veteran.
Indio boards are brought to you by the same people behind Pukas, so a wealth of experience has gone into this design. As for its construction, Endurance Epoxy is longer-lasting and lower-maintenance than standard EPS/Epoxy, but performance hasn’t been sacrificed at the alter of durability – the Racer still feels spritely and responsive underfoot.
So if you’re looking for a sturdy and forgiving all-rounder, whether its your first shortboard or your fiftieth, your search may be over. Design-wise, the Racer pushes the wide point forward, combining a fullish, retro-style nose with a narrower, pulled-in tail. What this basically translates into is amazing glide and paddle power on the one hand, and great control and manoeuvrability on the other. You can use that glide and paddle power in gutless surf to up your wave count and maintain speed, or in pumping surf to get you into waves earlier, avoiding late drops; meanwhile the Racer’s nimble and responsive off the back foot, enabling a performance-oriented approach, and has excellent hold when the sell picks up.
