Not really the first place that springs to mind when planning a surf trip. We all know Japan has some of the most consistent snowfall in the world with the freshest sushi, but how about really fun, regularly pumping uncrowded waves? We had forgotten too until we were smacked in the face by the new episode of Real Axe.
Presented by Billabong, the Real Axe video series sees Australians Credd McTaggart, Shaun Manners and Duncan McNicol being taken to some of Japan’s best Karaoke bars with surf spots in between by pro surfer turned tour guide, Kaito Ohashi. From awesome river mouths to firing beach breaks, you could be mistaken in thinking this was shot in Bali. So If you want to see great surfing from a bunch of mates really enjoying what Japan has to offer, then press play on the video but be warned, the next time you’re planning a trip you may have a new destination to add to that already big list.
Keep your eye out for the next video…
