Capsule Alert: Vans x Yusuke Hanai

Yusuke Hanai

Let’s be honest Vans is a brand we’re all know and love, we’ve all seen them in the stores, we’ve all at some point coveted a pair and all we most certainly all know someone who owns a pair (or if you’re like us… three). Well, hold on to your bucket hats this SS16 as Vans have enlisted Yusuke Hanai to bring some of his super chilled, Japanese-infused, retro-styles illustrations to the table.
Drawing inspiration from modern mid-century details and illustrations that aim to pay homage to surf culture, you can expect intricate artwork that will leave you craving the beach and most certainly ensure you strut your sh*t with confidence on those not-quite-hot-yet evenings.
Yusuke Hanai
Hanai left his motherland of Japan for San Francisco at the age of 25, his goal; to pursue an education in art. The 60’s were a melting pot of art, music and counter-culture – within this Hanai developed his own style, the style that Vans are super proud to bring to you in a capsule collection that celebrates creative expression, surfing and art.
Think seagulls, fish, flowers, cacti, and a sad surfer. A throwback to hazy evenings at the beach, sunset skate sessions and warm cans of beer…
