From blockbuster movies to epic television shows, we’re all so used to special effects in our entertainment nowadays. However, occasionally a video comes along that uses simple filming techniques that somehow manages to have the greatest impact, capturing the imagination in a completely new way – such is the case with Flame. Artfully shot by eDsanca, Romeo Nicoloso Rafaldik and Paola Rubio Ramon using low lights and fireworks, this video provides a unique interpretation of skateboarding skill.
Juan Algora “Jura”, a 23-year-old pro skater from Madrid, took to his board to ensure that the piece is a true visual delight, flipping his deck and carving fluid lines across the ground. From a pop shuvit to his ollie at the end, the stark contrast between firelight and shadow incites our primal fascination, and as Algora rides his way through the piece on the fiery wave, our eyes remain glued to his board.
