Fashion photographer and filmaker Jacob Sutton famed for working with Hermès, Burberry and The New York Times, has teamed up with UK Pro Snowboarder Will Hughes in the snowy resort of Tignes, France, to make this electrifying night ride video. The luminous shoot sees Hughes light up the French slopes at night by carving his way magically through the snow in a spectacular, bespoke LED suit, crafted by electronics designer John Spatcher.
The ghostlike grace and etherial quality of the video is ridiculously mesmorising and has seen the video reach over half a million views on You Tube since it went live this weekend.
Hughes was introduced to Jacob through a friend who works in the art scene, leading eventually to this unusual collaboration between the two:
” I’m stoked to have met Jacob”, Hughes tell us. The Artec sponsored pro snowboarder who has been shredding for 20 years, told us that he was more than “stoked to have met Jacob” and “to have been given this opportunity to be involved in something so different from my normal day shredding!”.
Indeed it must of been a surreal experience and not an easy one at that, with Hughes revealing that the filming took a whole weekend to do “with temperatures of up to -20!”
A far cry from the usual comfort of Jack Sutton’s designer studios… but we’d say it was worth it – undoubtedly the most special snowboard shoot we’ve seen a while!
What do you reckon??:
