Let’s Go Snurfing (Snowboarding)

Though we are a little disappointed the name changed, we’re delighted everything else about Snurfing has evolved. What started as a family game near the shores of Lake Michigan in 1965 grew into what we now know as snowboarding. It began with a man (Sherman Poppen) tying his daughter’s skis together and “surfing” down a snow covered hill near their house and exploded from there.

This full length documentary from the energy drink Burn takes the viewer through the entire history of this incredible sport from folkstory beginnings to the international sporting behemoth it is today. We’re not going to give anything else away because the film says everything we could in a much more eloquent and engaging way. Mixing rare archive footage, home video and in depth interviews with some of the most legendary names of the sport this is a documentary that should appeal to any snowboarder. Or skier. Or, in fact, anyone who has ever walked through snow and thought ”there must be a better way to travel on snow than this”.
It’s an hour and a half long so you may want to make an event of it. Grab some crisps, or some ice-cream, or some tea and biscuits. Whatever makes you comfortable enough to sit and watch it all because once you start it you will be drawn in and you won’t want to leave the screen for a single minute. This video only has about 25k views on Youtube, in our opinion it should have many times more. Snowboarders of the world, and Burn, we salute and thank you.
