When you grow up on the North Shore with the likes of the Florence family, barrels are destined to appear over you wherever you go. For Koa, it seems like his love of the ocean is mutual; he loves to get shacked and the sea usually obliges. But it goes without saying that every relationship has its tiffs. An ocean altercation is why Koa secured the Billabong 2014 Wipe-out of the Year earlier this month (he must’ve gone snowboarding the week before as the big blue was not a happy bunny, watch it here). In spite of that horrific hiccup, the 20 year old Quiksilver rider is more at home in the high seas than Captain Jack Sparrow.
