The greenest garment is the one you already own
Our friends over at PICTURE know a thing or two when it comes to crafting high-end, functional and stylish snow gear. Their products are designed to last, not just the one season but over a good few years of heavy shredding on the slopes.
Here at Surfdome, we like to champion these brands that put more of a focus on longevity and eco-conscious construction, which is why we are pleased to announce that you can now get a range of PICTURE gear repaired through their Lifetime Repair Warranty.
The importance of longevity
Simply put, repairs increase a product’s longevity, which in turn reduces its overall impact on the environment. Within the Fixing fashion: clothing and sustainability report carried out by the UK government in 2019, it states that by ‘extending the life of clothing by an extra nine months could reduce carbon, waste and water footprints by around 20–30% each’*. This is why the argument for repair over replace is so valid when it comes to clothing, especially high-end, technical sportswear such as PICTURE’s range of snow jackets and pants.

Academics at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion also believe that demand for water and carbon emissions can be actively reduced through the development of clothing maintenance skills, an appreciation for material qualities, and a ‘habit of mind’ that sways more towards existing items than to new ones**. By investing money into an item of clothing, it is massively beneficial to also invest your time and effort into its upkeep.
So that’s why we are massive advocates for the PICTURE LRW, and want to make sure that the Surfdome customer is kept in the loop when their products come under a brand’s repair guarantee.
How does it work?
With a PICTURE repair shop situated on home shores, your product will not clock up extortionate air miles on its restorative journey. PICTURE have partnered with Scottish Mountain Gear – an outdoor repair company that over the last 39 years have successfully repaired tens of thousands of tents, rucksacks, sleeping bags and all forms of adventure clothing.
All you have to pay for is the delivery charge to get your item over to the repair shop. PICTURE then cover both the repairs and the journey home! What’s not to like?
One thing to note is that the repair shop can get busy over the winter season, so it might be best to hold off on sending your product for repair until the spring. But if it can’t wait and the repair in question is to the main zipper or important seam, you can ask the repair centre to prioritise the process within the base of the online form.
What’s covered?
The following products are covered by the PICTURE lifetime repair warranty:
- Outerwear jackets and pants (Adult and Kids ranges)
- Midlayers (First layers excluded)
- Backpacks

The warranty does also cover past seasons’ products from the same categories. So if you have a PICTURE jacket that you’re not ready to part with but it just needs a little TLC, then now is the time to get it repaired. It is also worth noting that the lifetime repair warranty only applies to European and North American markets.
The Process
Be sure to lookout for the LRW icon (pictured below) that can be found under the product features on each of the relevant product pages on the Surfdome site. This means that the product is covered by the warranty and you can then begin to fill out the relevant sections of the PICTURE After-sales service request form.

You will be asked to provide:
- Your contact information: first name, last name, home address, telephone number, and email address (this info will only be used to track your package).
- The contact information of the dealer, which in this case will be:
[email protected] - The description of the item (size, colour).
- 2 x photos of the item (an overview photo of the garment and then a close-up photo of the defect is preferred).
- A copy of the proof of purchase, a screenshot of the Surfdome email entitled Order Confirmation is fine.

What’s next?
