As we can feel summer poking its head round the corner, the influx of stand up paddle boarders will descend on the seas and lakes…But imagine a shark trying to jump onto your board whilst you take off? That’s what happened to SUP enthusiast, Maximo Trinidad whilst out grabbing a few lunch break waves in sunny Florida.
We’ve all seen the famous image of the shark and the paddle boarder shot from above in the open ocean, but now there’s real footage. We are not sure if the shark was happy to get out of this near miss situation, as we all know we wouldn’t want to be face to face with an angry paddle boarder. Check out the video, filmed on Maximo’s GoPro, as the shark comes from out of nowhere and knocks him clean off his board. For most people this would be enough to get out of the water as quick as possible, but Maximo just gets back on his board and goes out for more.
Just goes to show you, stand up paddle boarding is not as relaxing as you think!
