LS/FF, aka London Surf / Film Festival, has been a mainstay of the UK surf scene for coming up to ten years. Indeed, in a few weeks’ time, from 2-4th December 2021 at the iconic Genesis Cinema in East London, the festival will be celebrating its 10th edition.
The Shorties section comprises the year’s finest short surf films from the UK and Ireland, and this year it’s presented by Surfdome. The longlist has just been announced, and the nominees are available to watch here on the LS/FF website – make sure you vote for your favourite to give it a chance of making the final shortlist. The chosen shorts will be screened at the festival itself.
The London Surf / Film Festival is a reliable gold mine of surf culture and filmmaking talent, and The Shorties is one of its richest veins, always packed with unexpected nuggets. It’s a fantastic space for new and established filmmakers to express themselves in shorter form, and we’re stoked to be supporting it.
This shortlist is decided by a combination of votes cast by the surf community and the screening panel. The selected films will then be shown on the big screen as part of the 10th Annual London Surf / Film Festival x Vans. We’re stumping up a £1000 filmmaking fund for the eventual winner.
Until 6th November, LS / FF are asking you – the esteemed surfing community – to support your favourite films by watching, sharing and voting for them.
Genesis Cinema, an epic venue in Bethnal Green, just east of Brick Lane, Whitechapel, etc., will be hosting the festival, and we strongly recommend you attend. Tickets will be live soon – sign up to the LS / FF mailing list to receive the latest updates.
