Construction: Alpha. Moulded carbon fibre, which has a better strength-to-weight ratio than fibreglass, is infused with air for what Futures call "the most advanced injection fin material ever". Alpha fins are lighter than Honeycomb fins, feature a "3D flow texture" to reduce drag, and rank in the 4-7 range on Futures' Ride Number scale.
Ride Number: 5.5 (a balanced, versatile fin)
Suitable Conditions: The F2 Alpha goes well in all conditions
Recommended Rider Weight: 34kg - 53kg
Features a neutral F-Series template
Thanks to carbon fibre's greater resilience, Futures have been able to go with a thinner tip for more spring, and have meanwhile thickened the base for improved drive.
The flat "foil" or inside surface is versatile and user-stable, providing added stability and control (helpful for ambitious late drops or when stalling for the tube)
When you're riding a wave, you're either trying to generate speed or control it. The higher the Ride Number, the better the fin is at generating speed; lower-numbered fins are designed for controlling speed.
